Yup, sad, but true, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

If it's a good Mexican chain (possible?) that would be great, we don't have too many options around here. Not Chi Chi's?

Thought Champps has/soon to be had good food.
I liked Chi Chi's.
Recall there used to be one right across the street from Champps.
Are there any Chi Chi's around anymore?

Chi-Chi's was a popular Mexican restaurant chain from 1975 to 2004. It ceased to exist within the United States following a 2003 Hepatitis A outbreak that began at one of its locations in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Chi-Chi's is still in operation in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Indonesia. A division of Chi-Chi's operates under the name Tumbleweed Restaurants in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Chi-Chi's also marketed a line of grocery foods (later purchased by Hormel) with an emphasis on salsa.

I just got a coupon magazine with a Champs ad, maybe it was too late to cancel or they changed their mind? Good sandwiches there.

No Trader Joe's... :(

The new place is going to be a Mexican restaurant named "El Beso" (The Kiss). They've been expanding the building, making it look 'southwestern' and apparently it's not a chain. Kind of weird name, but we could use a good, fair priced Mexican place around here. Maybe the El Fuego folks have some ties to this place? We'll see...

Looks like El Beso is el finito. ? I haven't seen any work done on the place in a while and it seemed like it was just about ready to open but now it's dark, empty. Maybe not - hope not, I wanted to see the place.

UPDATE: Today I saw a workers unloading tables and chairs from a semi trailer, so that's good news. Hopefully it will be open soon!

El Beso has their lights on and has posted signs looking for employees. Not sure about the opening date but this is a good sign....
