In the Autumn 2008 issue of the First & Fastest, published by the Shore Line Interurban Historical Society, there is an interesting article titled, "The Last Train to Greendale", which covers the TMER&L's line to Greendale (The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Co., also known as the TM, was the predecessor of Wisconsin Electric). While there are some pics from the Historical Society's books (used with permission), and, there are some I've never seen.

For more information on this issue visit

You can get your copy at Greenfield News & Hobby, which has convenient evening hours - open 'til 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Guess you have to go outside of Greendale to find stores open in the evening.

For those interested in a broader scope of the history of the TM, I recommend a book titled, TM, by the Central Electric Railfans Association. It is a bible (in size and content) of everything electric that ran on rails in southeastern Wisconsin aside from the North Shore. It was originally published in the early 1970s, so maybe some of the local libraries have it. It was republished a number of years ago, but still seems to be a rare find.
