Trivia question: What was the date the Greendale drug store opened?

For bonus points: What was the name of the first manager of the store?

I know the answer! But only because I have a cheat sheet.

1938 is not right. The initials are KDJ.

I have one too... it's the Pioneer yearbook from the same year as Greenda's Decennial (it was typeset with a typewriter).

Spent a lot of time at the drugstore because my Dad Edward Stettler was the Accountant for Ken Des Jardin for many years and they were very good friends. I remember the portal between the drugstore and movie theater where you could stand if it ranined. That door opened into the soda fountain shop. Sat at that counter many times as a kid. Good memory. :P Joel Stettler , born in Greendale in 1942 on Arbutus Ct.

It was the mid-nineteen fifties, a seemingly different world, and I was just a young lad of ten. A week or so before Christmas, I got my dollar and went out into a chilly winter's day, walking past the tennis/basketball courts and the "Shack" (in winter a warming hut for those using the ice rink). I was headed for downtown and Des Jardin's Drugstore to do some shopping. Laying my money on the counter I asked for a dollar's worth of those ten cent cigars, please. The clerk put them in a little brown paper bag, took my money and out the door I proudly went, cigars in hand, on the way home to wrap my father's Christmas gift.
