New rule: elderly drivers over 70 need to park at the Safety Center and get escorted into the Village Center after paying a $50 fee.

Harsh? I just drove down Northway from 60th/Grange and was behind a late '90s Buick LaSalle going 20 mph with brakes on the whole time. We get to the stop sign at Broad St. and the driver makes a left turn without stopping, almost hitting a car exiting the west parking lot by Joey Gerard's.

The guy could barely see over the dashboard and had 3 passengers. Thank goodness no one was in the crosswalk.

I would rather have a 'senile' senior driving 20mph in a posted 25 than have to literally run across Northway with a baby in a stroller and a toddler in hand to avoid being run over by those who enter the Village doing 40mph. Sadly, though, there are those (and not all are seniors) who should be scheduled semi-annually for re-testing in order to drive.

It's interesting that Greendale Police don't post the speed sign - showing how fast you're going - on the western side of Northway. I'm guessing it is because no one wants to offend potential visitors/money spenders who've been lured into the center of Greendale by the gateway and LED sign.

But GPD should because so many cars come flying down the hill. Not only is it dangerous for pedestrians but it's difficult for cars to turn onto Northway because of the incoming speeders. IMHO
